In 2025, seven major oil and gas companies —
ExxonMobil,

recorded combined profits of $87.91 billion.
In comparison, their total profits in 2024 were $104.12 billion, meaning profits declined by 16%, equivalent to $16.21 billion.
The main reason for this decline was the drop in average oil prices from $80.83 per barrel to $69.04 per barrel, a decrease of 14.3% between the two years.
1. ExxonMobil
In 2025, ExxonMobil recorded the highest profit among the companies, reaching $28.84 billion.
However, compared to 2024, its profits declined by 14% (a decrease of $4.84 billion), as it had earned $33.68 billion in 2024.
2. Shell
Shell ranked second in profitability in 2025.
It was the only company among the seven to increase its profits.
Its earnings rose by 11%, increasing from $16.09 billion in 2024 to $17.84 billion in 2025.
3. TotalEnergies
TotalEnergies ranked third in 2025 with profits of $13.13 billion.
Compared to 2024, profits declined by $2.63 billion (17%), down from $15.76 billion.
4. Chevron
Chevron ranked fourth in 2025, earning $12.48 billion.
It experienced the largest profit decline among the companies, falling by $5.27 billion (30%), compared to $17.75 billion in 2024.
5. BP
BP ranked fifth in 2025, with profits of $7.48 billion.
This represents a decrease of $1.43 billion (16%) compared to its $8.91 billion profit in 2024.
6. Equinor
Equinor ranked sixth in 2025, recording profits of $5.06 billion.
Compared to 2024, profits declined sharply by $3.77 billion (43%), down from $8.83 billion.
7. Eni
Eni ranked seventh in 2025, earning $3.08 billion.
Its profits declined slightly by $20 million (1%), compared to $3.1 billion in 2024.
