The Middle East in U.S. National Strategy

2025-12-13 12:31:09

The National Security Strategy of the United States was published and signed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The Middle East is addressed in the U.S. national strategy as follows:

  • Our partners in the Middle East demonstrate their commitment to confronting terrorism and extremism, and the United States must encourage this direction.

  • The United States must compel these states (especially the Gulf monarchies) to abandon their traditional and historical forms of governance.

  • The key to a successful relationship with the Middle East lies in accepting the region, its leaders, and its nations as they are, while working together on areas of shared interest.

  • It is in the interest of the United States that the Gulf’s energy resources do not fall into the hands of a hostile adversary.

  • The region must not become a supporter, promoter, or exporter of terrorism against U.S. interests, and Israel must remain protected.
